Hello and welcome back! I do apologise for my recent lack of posts as I am currently in the midsts of my first pantomime; Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood at the York Barbican, where I'm playing Maid Marian. I'm having the best time and will make sure to post about that as soon as I can, the schedule is pretty full on and has been since we started rehearsals on the 11th and opened on the 21st, with mostly two but sometimes three shows a day! But I also have a few archive posts to share with you from some fab experiences I've had over the last few months.
So, back in November I was lucky enough to be invited to one of the exclusive blogger's events at the First Direct Arena in Leeds to see Steps from a VIP box! The little ten-year old fan girl in me was automatically ecstatic and me and my friend Mabel quickly got to work on planning how we could low-key go all out for our outfits to the event that promised a 90s/Steps Wonderland. We needn't have fussed so much though as upon arrival we were offered every colour of scrunchie/ butterfly clip and there was even a station in the corner allocated for glittering our faces with the festival favourite Gypsy Shrine so we all looked super accessorised and prime for the 90s dream set of both Steps and Venga Boys throughout the evening.
The concert itself was pretty spectacular. In true Steps fashion the five wowed with the vibrant costumes and electric routines to adequately celebrate their successful twenty years together as a group. The women in particular were really brilliant. They looked and sounded fantastic. The Disney in me though, couldn't help but note just how superb front woman Claire Richards would be as Elsa in Frozen, just picture it! Their energy as a group is unchanged twenty years on from their beginning and it was just a real fun night. The Party on the Dancefloor Tour was launched in support of their fifth studio album Tears on the Dancefloor, which was released in April.
But in terms of the event itself, we were well looked after by the First Direct girls, they were great fun and definitely delivered with the promised '90s wonderland' along with an impressive spread of Mexican food and cocktails to keep us going. The view from the box was brilliant and it was ace to be able to leave the seats and relax in the larger room behind the seats in between sets, a luxury that is usually not available at a concert of this size. It was also really nice to chat to some other local bloggers who had been invited to the event. However the VIP experience that myself and the other bloggers experienced was just a little insight into what First Direct Bank customers can expect when visiting the arena. I didn't even know there were such perks as free and discounted refreshments, express entry and even exclusive access to pre-sale tickets for customers of the bank.
Find out more about the perks you can receive with First Direct Bank by clicking here.
So overall, me and Mabes had a great night dancing the night away and boogying to the nineties hits and enjoying the fantastic First Direct VIP treatment. Living the night as #fdVIPs is something not to miss so I very much recommend looking into First Direct or if you're already a customer, making sure you're making the most of the perks on offer!
So to conclude, on a semi related note; here's a picture of me in the pantomime in the middle of both pop stars Anna Kumble (aka. Lolly) as the Fairy of the Forest and A1's Ben Adams as my Robin Hood, who coincidentally both supported Steps together back in the 90s!
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are making the most of the festive season,
